Cooperate and check your progress
Read the rulebook before examining the cards. Only reveal material when instructed. Puzzle cards, the booklet, the decoder disk and Answer cards guide your progress. Everyone can contribute an observation or a hypothesis; solo play is also supported.
Help cards offer clues when you get stuck. Elapsed time and the help used contribute to the final evaluation. Allow around 45–90 minutes, with more time possible depending on the group.
A single-use adventure
The game is designed to be played once. You will know the solutions afterwards, and some elements may need folding, writing on, tearing or cutting. It is not designed to be reset for the same experience with another group. Other EXIT titles offer separate standalone stories.
Prepare your table
Have a pencil, eraser, paper and a timer or watch ready. Scissors make the required manipulations easier. Keep the material accessible to everyone and share your reasoning rather than letting one person handle every puzzle.
